Strings Not Included

December 15, 2010

Returning from Cisco’s Mobility Partner¬† Virtual Team Meeting in San Jose I decided it was time to turn over a new leaf. I have recently seen the power of one … one post … one tweet.

I was told in no uncertain terms that I needed to blog and I needed to participate in Twitter. (I am humbled to know that someone thinks I have something to say that is worth the bits)

There is a whole social media revolution going on that is pulling wireless professionals together and changing the way we work. I have noticed that the concept of have or have not has changed (in respect to social networking) to do or do not.(…There is no try …)

There are those who do participate, and they are better armed for the days ahead.  They are beginning to change the way we communicate with each other, and the vendors who garner our favor.

So here I go! I can’t promise that I will regularly write, but when I do, I’m try not to waste your time. By starting this blog I feel that I have formed an informal contract with you. You let me take some time from your day and in return I’ll try to not waste your time.

Of course there are no strings attached in our virtual relationship.

As I thought about what I might name my blogspace I thought about something that I have said for many years.

Co-workers, upon first meeting me, would say ‘So you’re the wireless guy”.

“Yep”, I would reply, “there are no strings on me”. Quite often the clear Pinocchio rip-off was lost on them.

Like it or not, that’s my inspiration for my new blog. The strings of my old ways are being cut, and lets see what happens.

Are there any virtual Jiminy Crickets out there?

I guess only time will tell.

If not, no worries, after all there are no strings included with our new virtual friendship.
